These are interesting times for all of us. But that doesn’t mean we should let the time pass by without making the most of it. Here are some interesting ways to make use of your time during the pandemic:
- Write a letter to a loved one
- “Adopt” someone in a nursing home
- Paint
- Learn a new language
- Dive deeper into your heritage
- Make a detailed family tree
- Craft DIY home decorations
- Learn an instrument
- Or practice an old instrument
- Start a new hobby
- Study geography
- Read International news on the places you discovered during your geography studies
- Put a puzzle together
- Write in a journal
- Ask a family member to share a fun story and make a book of family stories
- Have a spa day – face masks, foot scrubs!
- Plan a candlelit dinner date (even by yourself!)
- Make a fort and watch movies
- Play a board game
- Sort through your closet
- Make new outfits and take pictures for when you need some inspo (if you need help, let me know!) Determine what you haven’t worn in the past year & if it’s worth keeping and what’s sentimental enough to keep but maybe doesn’t need to be taking up space in your closet.
- Facetime, Skype or Zoom a friend you haven’t seen in a while
- Take a bubble bath
- Pull out those old home videos from when you and your parents were young
- Cook or bake something completely new
- Try a Master Class

- Finally go through that junk drawer
- Throw out your old makeup
- Make a gratitude jar or journal
- Print out photos and scrapbook
- Learn something new about finances
- Find ways to support local businesses
- Have a movie marathon with a new theme for each night of the week
- Make a vlog every day documenting what you’re doing and how you feel during this time
- Find those missing socks and throw out the rest
- Practice yoga
- Plant flowers in the yard
- Find new ways to style your hair
- Meditate
- Give your dog a bath
- Plan a vacation for when you’re allowed to travel again
- Cross something off your To-Do list you know you’re never going to get done
- Pick up your favorite book that you haven’t read in a while
- Draw
- Look for career development opportunities
- And don’t forget, you can still spend time outside
- Remove any songs on your phone you don’t listen to anymore
- Find ways to volunteer and give back from home
- Participate in one (or multiple) of the millions of social media challenges
- Forgive someone (even if they aren’t in your life anymore)
- Camp in your backyard
- Find a new dance to try on YouTube
- Better yet, have a dance party with your friends
- Have a family reunion over Zoom or the phone
- Learn one new fun fact about your kids, S.O. or loved ones
- Go stargazing (there’s a meteor shower happening right now!)
- Make a list of things to do the next time you’re bored!
